About Me

Exceeding Expectations One Patient at a Time

The decision to seek treatment is a conscious, courageous choice, and I am here to help. My goal as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist is to provide a safe emotional environment where my clients can feel more comfortable expressing their feelings, gaining more self-confidence, and learning new skills and tools, to better communicate and lead more
meaningful fulfilling lives.

Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to get into a career path that would make a difference in people’s lives. This interest led me to get a BA from UC Irvine in Psych and Social behavior than an MA in Counseling Psychology from John F Kennedy University, and eventually a full-time private practice. Along the way I have worked in multiple agencies, including Hospice of the Valley, the YWCA, Cupertino, and San Jose Unified School Districts.

Some of my clients have expressed that my calm demeanor, genuineness, and professionalism have helped them overcome their resistance to treatment and develop strategies to better their lives. I believe that counseling is a shared experience with both of us working towards a set goal in order for it to be effective.

Having a trusting relationship with my clients is my primary goal. I lean towards a more person-centered therapeutic style and method, where a positive therapist-client relationship and unconditional positive regard are emphasized. I am an ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist with extensive training in working with Couples, Families and Individuals as well as trained in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I pull from these treatment modalities, as well as others, to tailor my treatment style to fit the needs of each individual client.

Having taught for 10 years in an elementary school and three grown children of my own I have gained a lot of life experiences along the way. I have a passion for working with adolescents and young adults on issues of self-esteem, body image, depression, anxiety, peer pressure, family conflict, and matters that come up during stages of life. I am certified and trained in the treatment of Eating Disorders (Anorexia, Bulimia, and overeating) and I also specialize in Mood Disorders (Anxiety and Depression) and I am a Grief and Loss Specialist.

I like to set mutually agreed-upon goals and check-in periodically about the progress so that my clients can notice the changes that are happening behaviorally and emotionally.

As a licensed Psychotherapist in the Bay Area, I am committed to the well-being of all my patients and go above and beyond to cater to their needs.
